On February 17, the Orthodox Church in America awarded our community the Mission Planting Grant, which is a great honor. It will help us move forward with our vision to grow the community and move into a more permanent building. While the Grant money will be allocated to our priest’s salary (as is required by the Grant rules), it will free up church funds for putting toward a building.
Our present location, the Roanoke Council of Garden Clubs, has been a lovely facility to use for our services. But because they are a popular rental venue, we’re not able to offer much more than the usual cycle of weekend services (Great Vespers Saturday nights and Divine Liturgy Sunday mornings). Relocating will take time and investigation; we don’t expect to make the move anytime soon. Perhaps by the end of this year or the beginning of next year. Please pray for us that God will bring to our attention the right place at the right time.
